🗺️ All Five Regions of Pywel

🌾

Hernand Plains

Starting Region ⭐⭐

Rolling grassland, river valleys, mercenary encampments

Hernand Plains is where Crimson Desert begins. A vast, wind-swept grassland crisscrossed by rivers and dotted with mercenary encampments, farming villages, and ancient ruins. The Greymane Company operates across this region, and much of the opening story unfolds here as Kliff re-establishes his fractured band. Despite being the starting zone, Hernand is far from empty — hidden caves, underground dungeons, and a handful of powerful field bosses reward thorough exploration.

Highlights

  • Best area to learn all core combat mechanics before the difficulty spikes in later zones
  • Queen Stoneback Crab field boss lurks in the eastern riverbed — one of the earliest spectacular fights
  • Reed Devil is hidden in the southern reeds — one of the community's most talked-about optional encounters
  • Split Horn's goblin tribe territory occupies the western hills — a memorable early side encounter
  • Multiple Greymane Camp upgrade components are found exclusively in Hernand
  • First exposure to the Black Bear faction occupation mechanics — liberate camps to restore merchants and rest points
Bosses: Queen Stoneback Crab, Reed Devil, Split Horn, Cassius Morten
Resources: Wheat, timber, iron ore, medicinal herbs, horse breeding stock
🏔️

Pailune Snow Mountains

Mid-Game Region ⭐⭐⭐

High-altitude snowfields, ice caves, frozen mountain passes

Pailune is Pywel's frozen highland — a brutal snow-covered mountain range that punishes unprepared travellers with environmental hazards and powerful ice-elemental enemies. The region is home to some of the game's most visually dramatic boss fights, including White Horn and Staglord. The verticality of Pailune rewards gliding investment heavily — many hidden areas are only reachable from altitude. Frost-resistant equipment crafted from Hernand materials gives a meaningful combat advantage here.

Highlights

  • White Horn boss fight takes place on a frozen mountain peak — one of the most cinematic encounters in the game
  • Staglord waits in a ruined throne room at the highest peak — a pivotal story battle
  • Kearush the Slayer field boss roams the mid-mountain passes
  • Snow Walker elemental boss resides near the summit glacier
  • Ice freeze water mechanic is introduced here — shoot frost arrows into mountain lakes to cross hazards
  • Multiple Axiom Force source locations unlock Flight upgrades
  • The region's frozen caves contain the highest concentration of Blue skill Abyss Artifacts in the early-to-mid game
Bosses: White Horn, Staglord, Kearush the Slayer, Snow Walker
Resources: Ice crystals, mountain ore, rare pelts, Axiom energy cores
🏰

Demeniss

Mid-to-Late Game Region ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Militarised city-fortress, occupied townships, underground catacombs

Demeniss is the urban heartland of Pywel — a sprawling militarised fortress city controlled by the Black Bear faction under Myurdin's command. It is the most politically complex region in the game, featuring major story missions, NPC questlines with meaningful narrative consequences, and a dense network of fortified positions that can be liberated through both direct assault and Comrade dispatch strategies. Hexe Marie and Fortain operate within Demeniss, making it home to two of the game's most challenging and story-significant boss encounters.

Highlights

  • Primary Black Bear stronghold — liberating Demeniss is a central story goal
  • Hexe Marie sorceress boss fight is located in the inner sanctum
  • Fortain the Cursed Knight encounter occurs in the main castle courtyard
  • Multiple NPC mentors teach Green (Spirit) skills unavailable anywhere else
  • Underground catacombs beneath the city hide the highest-value loot caches in the mid-game
  • Comrade dispatch missions targeting Demeniss fortifications yield rare crafting materials
  • First encounter with Myurdin occurs here — though the fight outcome is scripted
Bosses: Hexe Marie, Fortain the Cursed Knight, Myurdin (scripted encounter)
Resources: Steel alloys, alchemical reagents, Black Bear faction armour pieces, arcane components
🌿

Delesyia

Late-Game Region ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dense tropical rainforest, hidden ruins, canopy traversal routes

Delesyia is Pywel's ancient forest region — a dense, rain-soaked jungle hiding pre-war ruins, ambush-specialist enemies, and a disproportionate number of NPC mentors who teach advanced skills. The region's enemies are uniquely mobile, using the canopy and undergrowth for ambush tactics that punish stationary players. Draven — one of the game's most visually distinct bosses — operates in Delesyia's deepest ruins. The region rewards patience and combat mastery over raw power.

Highlights

  • Draven boss fight in the deepest ruin — defeating him gives Kliff the Particle Dash ability
  • More NPC skill mentors than any other region — prioritise talking to every named NPC encountered
  • Canopy traversal routes are only accessible with Flight Lv.1 or higher
  • Enemy ambush density is highest here — always approach bushes and tree lines with weapon drawn
  • Hidden ruins contain lore codices that fill in the pre-war history of Pywel
  • Rare exotic crafting materials for top-tier armour and weapon upgrades are exclusive to Delesyia
  • Multiple Comrade dispatch missions unlock unique Delesyia-exclusive camp furniture
Bosses: Draven, Unnamed Jungle Warlord (field boss)
Resources: Exotic timber, rare herbs, ancient metal fragments, jungle beast pelts
🏜️

The Crimson Desert

End-Game Region ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Arid wasteland, sand dunes, buried ancient civilisation ruins

The region that names the game — a vast, hostile arid wasteland stretching to the game's southern horizon. The Crimson Desert is the final major region, home to the game's hardest content and deepest narrative revelations. Golden Star, Myurdin's final form, Muskan the arena fighter, and multiple unnamed endgame field bosses all reside here. Environmental hazards including sandstorms, extreme heat zones, and buried trap fields add survival pressure that earlier regions do not. Completing the Crimson Desert region resolves the game's primary storyline.

Highlights

  • Golden Star aerial dragon fight — the game's most technically unique boss encounter
  • Myurdin final encounter — the climax of the Black Bear faction storyline
  • Muskan arena fight in the desert coliseum — crowd reaction mechanics affect rewards
  • Environmental sandstorms temporarily disable visibility and reduce stamina regeneration
  • Buried ancient ruins contain the game's rarest Abyss Artifact caches
  • The region's heat zones require consumable protection or upgraded camp gear to survive
  • Final lore revelations about the pre-war history of Pywel and Kliff's true past
Bosses: Golden Star, Myurdin (final encounter), Muskan
Resources: Ancient alloys, desert crystals, endgame crafting exclusives, final boss drops

🐎 Traversal Tips for Pywel

  • Always discover Traces of the Abyss immediately upon entering a new region — fast travel saves hours of backtracking.
  • Upgrade Flight to Lv.2 before tackling Pailune or Delesyia — both regions have critical content gated by aerial access.
  • Horses are the fastest ground traversal option. Acquire and upgrade a mount in Hernand before moving to harder regions.
  • The full map opens from the start — you can technically visit any region immediately, but enemy difficulty scales sharply.
  • Comrade dispatch missions can clear blockades between regions without Kliff being present, opening new paths passively.
  • The Axiom Force Aerial Maneuver skill is the fastest single-repositioning move — unlock it before tackling Delesyia's canopy content.
